I agree with you here, in all thepictures I have of the wing of the -1A in Chino the fabric is so taut that no evidence of any ribs below the fabric was evident.
Except offcours the pinked tape and the rivets below it, only they hinted there were ribs there.
The same goes for the elevators, I tested the tautness of the fabric on the 1:1 with my fingers, it is so taut that after painting it almost looks like it is metal.
The paint on the 1:1 Corsair almost completely fills the weave.
So I would also just cover the wings and elevators completely and simulate any ribs per the Platt-method.

Don, I do not have Ziroli plans but I have built some of them before. I think he lists his sources on the plans………..use that 3 view! If none are listed …….call him and find out! The other one you like the most with all that detail will be picked apart on the table, because Ziroli did not base his drawings on that 3 view…… they are going to hone in on the prop hub first and then move to the cowl, put their finger on the outline and slowly go down the top of the side view looking for canopy outline and whatever is profiled inside the canopy, shape of the fin…rudder outline and any gaps that are see through or notches. then the bottom….. shape and angles of gear, doors etc. Just run your finger slowly around the outline, and look at the plans and the flaws will jump out at you You should try to correct those that are the most obvious
Top and front are viewed the same way. Pay attention to angles of the gear and doors (side and front)
After you find out what 3 view be based it on…scan it…… get an enlargement of the 3 view based on the wheel size and have it printed on vellum (that is what I did on my FW)
Keep in mind that Nick and Vailly build plans to fly as models and they alter things to make it fly better. After all, they do sell a lot of plans, and there are a lot out there flying
